The Final Twist
Shocking
news! As it turns out Juliet Capulet, previously pronounced dead, had
been alive up until now. In an exclusive interview with Friar Lawrence,
he detailed the entire plan from start to finish.
"I am the greatest, but I was able to do the least. I am under the most suspicion, because I was here at the time of this awful murder. And here I stand, you can question me and punish me. I have already condemned and excused myself." -Friar Lawrence
The friar did indeed secretly marry Romeo and Juliet, proving all the rumors true. Unfortunately, Romeo's banishment caused major complications in the original plan. Juliet, with a potent brew of chemicals, faked her own death to avoid her wedding with Paris to be with Romeo. Romeo arrived, without knowledge of the plan and believed Juliet to truly be deceased. He encountered Paris, killed him, then proceeded to be with his loved one. He too drank a poison, only this one was meant to kill, causing him to die on the spot. Juliet awoke soon after, then committed suicide to be with Romeo.
Both Lord Capulet and Lord Montague have told us about their sorrow. "Oh, brother Montague, give me your hand. This is my daughter’s dowry. I can ask you for nothing more," Capulet had said. Both families have promised to erect statues for their children, to honor their sacrifice in their parents' war. It seems as though the war is over for now, but who knows what else will happen in the great town of Verona? Find out on the next edition of The Verona Newspaper.
