Romeo Banished, a means to an end?
On one fateful Monday afternoon, a fight occurred in Verona's town square. Tybalt, of Capulet, fatally wounded Mercutio, who died on the scene. Tybalt fled the area, only to be pursued and killed by Romeo, of Montague. Our wonderful Prince, showered Romeo with his grace and spared his life at the cost of his banishment The public is in chaos and have voiced their opinions on this sensitive subject.
"Romeo, having lost a dear friend, acted in a rational manner. I believe Tybalt is to blame for this heinous act. I'm unsure of why anyone would attack innocents in broad daylight for absolutely no reason at all. Mercutio died wrongfully, but Tybalt did deserve his fate. As for the banishment, I do believe that is the correct course of action. It is impossible to acquire justice through bloodshed. Romeo's absence shall affect his family of course, but it is a disservice to Verona to allow a murderer to stay next to possible targets."
-Friar Lawrence
"Poor Tybalt did not see it coming. His death carries a sadness in which words cannot describe. I do not know of this Mercutio fellow, but I'm sure Tybalt had reason to kill him. As for the devil Romeo, he should consider himself lucky. If it were up to me, I would have his head on a platter and his body mutilated beyond recognition. Tybalt did not deserve his fate, he had too much to live for. Now Juliet shall have one less person at her wedding. Banishment is too good for that devil Romeo."
